Andrea, a single mother struggled to find work which accommodated her circumstances. Before becoming a mother Andrea was studying to become an accountant but due to personal circumstances she was unable to compete the course. Upon joining Love Love Working Andrea expressed that she wanted to find a job that would give her the experience to start her career as an accountant .
Her advisor Esther found a placement within the Love London Working finance team. Successful in her application Andrea began an 8 week placement and developed skills and attended job search clubs with the support from the Employment Opportunity Officer Janine, additionally completed Ready2Inteview sessions to build her confidence.
Her Employment support officer also completed a ‘Better Off Calculation’ which gave Andrea the confidence to know what she would be paying and how to mange her bills and childcare cost as this was a major concern for her. After a few weeks of her placement she was offered an interview with an external organisation in their finance department where she would also be able to complete her level 3 AAT ( Association of Accounting Technicians) course. She was successful and started work.
