“I had the pleasure of working along side some of the Affinity Sutton employment support team and the enthusiasm and involvement they have in getting people employed is encouraging.”
Seb had finished University with a foundation degree in Digital Media Technologies. unable to source any work he started claiming Universal Credit. He met with Janine, one of our Employment Engagement Officers, at a job fair which took place at Bromley Job Centre. Seb was not aware that as an Affinity Sutton resident we could offer him assistance with getting into work and signed up to Love London Working Programme.
After a short conversation about Sebastian’s working background and aims; Janine presented him with a graduate work placement as an Assistant Researcher. He applied for the placement and after an interview Sebastian was offered an eight week placement; during which time we were able to offer further support and gave Sebastian an opportunity to develop his skills whilst at work.
Sebastian’s employer was so impressed with his work that they offered him paid employment on a temporary contract to be reviewed after four weeks.
So far he has continued to impress and his contract has been renewed with his employer who are now seeking to offer.
Seb had this to say about the Love London Working Programme:
“I didn’t even know Affinity Sutton offered employment support until I met Janine at the jobs fair. I was hoping to get a job working at a computer for a housing association at best.
When I started my work placement I was very grateful that it was local and something IT based that I could put on my CV so that I could get away from retail in the future. Now I am working for people that value my work and they are looking into getting me more work in different areas.
I also have the pleasure of working along side some of the Affinity Sutton employment support team and the enthusiasm and involvement they have in getting people employed is encouraging.”
