Meet Nancy

Nancy's story

Nancy Kiaku, a 36-year-old job-seeker, has been taken on as a catering worker as part of the Love London Working programme in partnership with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Nancy, originally from the Republic of Congo in Africa, landed the job after a three-day voluntary work placement at the White Hart Lane club. Nancy, who has lived in Haringey for 13 years and been studying a range of subjects including hairdressing, beauty and fashion textiles.

‘I’m really pleased to have a regular income once again and be in a position to support my family.

The course is really helpful and has not only enabled me to improve my interview skills and prepare a better CV, but it has also improved my confidence.

I’d like to thank the Love London Working team, not only for their guidance, but for also arranging childcare so that I could attend my placement. I’m really grateful that Tottenham Football Club has placed its faith in me and I’m now ready to build a career in catering.’

Nancy took part in weekly one-to-one sessions at Coombes Croft Library, in Tottenham High Road with her advisor from the Clarion Group, Saeed Jama. Saeed said that:
